Ya should'a been there. Our classic horror movie triple feature yesterday at Smithsburg went off without a hitch, and everyone who came seemed to have a great time. We got about twelve people altogether, which was more than I honestly expected, so I was thrilled. Ashley was great as the ravishing but uncrossable mistress of ceremonies — I quote: "Grab some chair, motherfuckers — we start now!"
She didn't really say that.
The first girl who showed up told me she was a vampire nut who was only there for Horror of Dracula. She wound up staying for all three. Even though it had nothing to do with me, I saw it as a personal victory. Vampire girl had never seen Horror of Dracula before. How can you call yourself a vampire person without having seen one of the greatest vampire films ever made? I've seen it like twenty times and I've never worn black lipstick in my life! Maybe after last night, she's a gestalt and werewolf person, too.
On the drive back to Sharpsburg last night, Ashley was already contemplating next year's horror-fest. Her dream line-up: Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and Night of the Living Dead. Make your plans now.
