My follow-up dental appointment was this morning. Last time it was a "debridement," this time a "prophylaxis." The two procedures, as far as I could tell, were identical. Calling this cleaning a prophylaxis seems to suggest that it's meant to be preventative. Since I already have gum disease, I'm not sure what it's meant to prevent. Maybe my teeth falling the fuck out of my head.
