I actually thought the first Obama vs. McCain debate was pretty good. Jim Lehrer did terrifically as moderator, and even though it was like pulling teeth to get the candidates to actually talk to each other, he managed it a few times. I wish Obama had come back a little stronger against McCain when he was being belittled over his willingness to negotiate with the President of Iran, and on a few other points. I don't think he won, but I don't think he screwed the pooch, either.
Now, this week comes the one I'm really looking forward to. Thursday is the only vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. This is Biden's chance to justify his place on the ticket, because to this point he sure as hell hasn't done Obama any favors. He needs to jump her and put her down. He needs to reveal her hypocrisy and ineptitude to all the world. It can't be a draw, it can't be a close call. He has to obliterate her, leave nothing left afterwards but a broken pair of eyeglasses. If he leaves any meat on her bones, he will have failed.
