Just a few days after impersonating Jay Leno for his entire show, Jimmy Kimmel appeared on The Jay Leno Show via satellite last night for Leno’s 10 at 10 segment. What might have been another in a long line of safe, easy and boring comedy segments became something else entirely about halfway through when Kimmel began overtly criticizing Leno’s role in NBC’s late night debacle, with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye the whole time.
Today I saw it called the defining moment of The Jay Leno Show. That its defining moment consisted of someone from a competing network appearing to call out the host for being a callous, self-interested murderer of another man’s dreams just about tells you everything you need to know about The Jay Leno Show.
Good on you, Jimmy Kimmel. And best of luck to you, Conan, wherever you end up.
