We went to Frederick today and stopped by Beyond Comics, which is the best comic book store I’ve ever been to. It’s not that it has the best selection, because it doesn’t – it’s that the place is well-lit and clean, and doesn’t put me in mind of some dude’s unfinished basement. The selection isn’t that important to me, anyway; I’ve never been much of a long-box browser, though the first time I went to Beyond, I did end up buying a few older Batman issues from the long-boxes. Mostly I keep to the trade paperbacks. I’m a comic book reader, not a comic book collector. I go in for the stories, not the capital. Which is not to say I wouldn’t drop $50,000 on a copy of ‘Tec #27 if I had it and one was available, just that I’ll be quite happy to die without one. I own two or three reprints of it, and it ain’t that great of a story.
