First he started making all sorts of suspicious noises about the citizenship of Barack Obama, and now Donald Trump has taken the next logical step in his tentative run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination — a clumsy preemptive denial of racism.
During an interview aired on an Albany, New York radio station earlier today, Trump repeatedly declared his friendly feelings and general lack of hostility toward the African American population:
I have a great relationship with the blacks. I've always had a great relationship with the blacks.
I bet the blacks feel the same way about you, Donald.
