For the second week in a row, Ashley and I found ourselves sitting in the Maryland Theater on Saturday night. Last week it was the Teen Idol competition, where the Washington County Free Library awarded a thousand bucks to the girl who sang the best karaoke. Tonight, it was the Maryland Symphony Orchestra playing Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Take a guess which show was better.
You know, Hagerstown might not be Florence, but it does have one or two things going for it as far as the arts go. The Blues Fest, coming up next month, for one thing, and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra for another.
The best part? The tickets were free, acquired by Greta, sister to Ashley the greatest girlfriend in the world, through her workplace. The only thing better than going to see the symphony with my girl is going to see it for free.
When I have the money, I'll become a major contributor, I promise.
