Microsoft, ala The Office
Friday, May 2nd, 2008 | 10:18 am [humor, video]
I heard on the radio this morning that Microsoft is close to attempting a hostile takeover of Yahoo. They want that second-rate web portal, dammit! Anyway, it reminded me of The Office Values, a promotional video made by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for Microsoft UK a few years ago. It's supposedly a training video, featuring Gervais in-character as David Brent, hired by Microsoft as a consultant. The whole thing (originally in two parts, cut up into fourths for viewing on YouTube) runs about 40 minutes, so it's like having a bonus extra-long episode of the original Office, which is very cool indeed.

It was never intended to be viewed publicly, and in fact I think Gervais and Merchant were a little peeved at first that it got leaked to the net. But it did. So, here you go:

That's Part One.  Part Two is right here, and here's Part Three, and finally Part Four.  Funny shit.

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea of this video's existence.

I remember before Microsoft released Windows 95, they hired two actors from the new hit TV show Friends, Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry to teach the world about what a great OS Windows 95 was going to be.
