The day before I posted my list of the best films of the ‘00s, Roger Ebert put up his on his very excellent blog. Our lists, which each include twenty-one films, have exactly two titles in common: Kill Bill Vol. 2, which Ebert lists alongside Vol. 1, and No Country for Old Men, which I said was the best film of the decade and Ebert lists alphabetically among the runners-up after his ranked top ten.
The ten best films of the ‘00s, according to Roger Ebert, are
1. Synecdoche, New York 2. The Hurt Locker 3. Monster 4. Juno 5. Me and You and Everyone We Know 6. Chop Shop 7. The Son 8. The 25th Hour 9. Almost Famous 10. My Winnipeg
You can read his thoughts on those ten, including his original reviews which are linked, along with the other eleven that didn’t quite make the cut but still warranted mention, at Roger Ebert’s Journal.
