Good on Andre Dawson for becoming the only player chosen by the BBWAA for the 2010 class of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Manager Whitey Herzog and umpire Doug Harvey made it in, too, but only Dawson is going in for his accomplishments on the field. I have nothing against Andre — I mean, good for him. But I find it a little odd that he finally made it in, yet Edgar Martinez fell short in this, his first year of eligibility. Apparently too many of the writers felt Edgar just was not of the first-ballot hall-of-famer class. Maybe next year (for you too, Roberto Alomar).
Andre, Whitey and Doug will have to wait until the summer to actually have their plaques hung at Cooperstown. But for the three men and two women you are about to see, the wait is over. They happen to be
