Yesterday’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear drew an estimated 215,000 people to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. CBS News contracted AirPhotosLive to count the crowd using an array of aerial photographs taken from a variety of altitudes and angles.
The same company used the same method to estimate the attendance of Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally at around 87,000. Beck
disputed that number, claiming his rally had actually drawn over half a million people. Of course, the CBS/AirPhotosLive number was based on the careful analysis of over 400 aerial photographs, while Beck based his estimate on his fondest wishes of what might have happened.

So, to recap: according to the same company that produced the only scientific estimate of August’s Glenn Beck event, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s rally drew nearly three times as many people as Beck’s Restoring Honor rally.
Sounds like a good day. Just saying.
