Sadly, the traditional Spidey formula for success is to give him problems to get all mopey about. It is pretty much soap opera at heart; look at what Marvel was publishing before they got into superheroes (romance comics and monster comics), they simply translated those sensibilities to superheroics. What made Spidey work so well (having the world dump on him) is largely essential to his ongoing success. Sorry Peter, you deserve better.

Ultimate FF managed to screw up both the FF and Doctor Doom in one amazingly fell swoop. Original universe: Reed Richards made a mistake that he believes he should have foreseen and feels obligated to make amends, while Doctor Doom made a mistake that he was even warned about and continues to blame Reed Richards for his own mistake. Perfect contrast and a misguided reason for Doom's grudge. Ultimate universe: Doom interfered with Reed's project and created the FF while also messing himself up. That just makes Reed a victim and Doom a big dummy.
