I'm not sure Roy Batty could even be considered a bad guy; if anyone fits that description, it's Deckard.

You could tell the same basic story of "Blade Runner" in 1859, with runaway slaves who escaped in a violent revolt and killed some innocent people along the way too. The runaway slaves might be considered morally grey, but you know who would for sure be seen as the bad guy? The slave catcher who's pursuing them.
